Lauritzen Botanical Gardens & Arboretum offers a 100-acre site, featuring several plant communities, throughout the Gardens, horticulture library and classrooms. Open since 2001, the visitor center includes a large floral display hall. A favorite is the garden with miniature trains, We will see the fall chrysanthemum festival. This complex Center is 45,000 square feet of greenhouse and head-house space. The facility features state-of-the-art computer environmental controls. The system has automated watering and weighting stations and four chambers equipped with a camera capable of collecting image in the visible, infrared and hyper spectra; of each plant up to maturity or eight feet.Find out more here!
NJHA members will have an exceptional educational experience while touring this biological park which is leading the nations’ conservation efforts. The zoo offers a variety of travel-worthy experiences. Walk through the world’s largest indoor desert and the largest indoor rainforest in North America. Haymarket Park is the home field of the Lincoln Saltdogs and the Nebraska Cornhusker baseball teams. The NJHA members will learn the importance of turf management for an athlete arena. The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Botanical Garden and Arboretum provides different experiences with changing seasons. NJHA will be visiting the Gardens and Arboretum in early Autumn, so we will experience Fall colors and mature plants, many bearing fruits. In addition to the specific gardens, special collections of plants are incorporated throughout the landscape, making the best use of the building environments for aesthetic and education purposes.Find out more here!
