The purpose of this contest is to illustrate, interpret, emphasize and promote horticulture and the National Junior Horticultural Association (NJHA).

 Participants will prepare a design to promote and publicize the 2018 NJHA convention.

 NJHA convention is in St. Louis, Missouri, October 5-8, 2018

Who can Participate:

  1. 5-9 year olds
  2. 10-15 year olds
  3. 15-18 year olds
  4. 19-22 year olds

Contest requirements

A. Designs must promote the NJHA convention scheduled Oct 5-8, 2018 in St. Louis, Missouri.

B. The following must be included in the design in easily readable font(s).

C. The design must include the following:

1.Full name of NJHA (National Junior Horticultural Association), or the logo must be used in the design.

2. Must include some color. Design may be original drawings or computer generated.

D. In addition to promoting the 2018 convention, the design must include some pictorial promotion of horticultural crops (not processed or prepared foods). These might include: vegetables, fruits, nuts, flowers, turf, and/or ornamental woody plants (not all commodities should be included in the design).

Some graphic design suggestions that might be considered for the St. Louis convention could feature the St. Louis Arch, the Missouri Botanical Garden, or other icons representing St. Louis or the area.

The design must be be submitted electronically to fit in an 8 x 8 inch space.

Submission of the design must include the artist’s name, age (as of Dec. 31, 2017), date of birth, address, email of the participant, and an email of a parent or responsible adult.

There is no limit on the number of entries from any state but ONLY ONE ENTRY PER PERSON.

The design becomes the property of the NJHA and will not be returned.  NJHA reserves the right to use any of the designs.

Failure to comply with any other contest rules will result in disqualification.

The entry must be electronically submitted (no hard copies) by September 15, 2017.  Entries will not be accepted after September 15, 2017.  See the email address under the Project Chair information listed below.
